Halfway between Capo Carbonara and Costa Rei, in the territory of Castiadas, you will find a little corner of paradise: the beach of Cala Pira, protected by a promontory, on which a tower of the same name stands, and surrounded by granite rocks and centuries-old junipers. Soft dunes and intense Mediterranean fragrances surround you along one of the most beautiful stretches of coast in Sardinia.
The beach features shallow waters, making it safe for children to play there, and it is the ideal destination for anyone who likes to move around on pleasure boats, which can be moored here. It also offers other services: it can be accessed by disabled people, has a small car park, a campsite and a place for dining/refreshments.
Nearby, you will find other gems of the Castiadas territory: Cala Sinzias, with its beach protected by two promontories and surrounded by a eucalyptus thicket with an organized campsite. Then there is the beach of Cannisoniand the large, beautiful beach of San Pietro (Cala Marina) with its golden hues. Perfect locations, along with Cala Pira, not only in the summer but also for a spring or autumn break, thanks to the lovely clear, sunny days. Beyond San Pietro, Costa Rei begins, consisting of ten kilometres of fine, golden sandy beaches that slope gently towards the sky-blue sea. In sequence, you will encounter the beaches of Monte Turno, Sant'Elmo and Santa Giusta, until you get to the Scoglio di Peppino, the boundary between the territories of Castiadas and Muravera.
We are right inside the territory of Sarrabus, one of the most captivating areas in Sardinia. In the background, there is the mountainous outline of the Parco dei Sette Fratelli (Park of the Seven Brothers), a valuable natural oasis and the ideal place for taking relaxing walks. From the coast, you will quickly get to the luxuriant mountains, via the hills covered with Mediterranean scrub
